OLKATA: The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is well known for his television show Dadagiri and now he is heading to host another show and this time the request came from none other than Didi -- Mamata Banerjee to host - Egiye Bangla - apni jokhon entrepreneur. The show is being sponsored by Bengal government, as Mamata Banerjee wants to promote - Shilpo Karun, Bangla Gorun and for that small entrepreneurs are now being focused to create jobs.

Mamata Banerjee in her facebook post mentioned on Sunday - Bengal is launching an exclusive business reality show in Bengali. The show will target young entrepreneurs, with unique business ideas and help them to achieve their dreams. Our very own Sourav Ganguly has come forward to be the face of the show. Sourav will ignite young minds to be successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow, the post said. The show is the brain child of the Bengal chief minister as she had been preaching for long to create entrepreneurs and now to encourage green horns to be entrepreneurs this show is being planned. The show will be aired in prime time in a Bengali channel, said Derek O'Brien Trinamool MP who is also involved in conceptualizing the TV show. It is expected to give the government an edge in the Assembly polls of 2016.

However, the Bengal government officials are unwilling to disclose the amount they need to shell out to Ganguly to host the show. It might be mentioned that already arbitration is on as Mahuaa Bangla has failed to pay the dues to Maharaj for his show Ke Hobe Banglar Kotipati.

The show is being planned with IIM Calcutta going to be the knowledge partner of the show, said Rajiva Sinha, secretary of micro, small, medium enterprises department. He said "Young entrepreneurs would be selected through a reality show and the government will hone them with all talents to make them successful entrepreneurs." He said that the MSME department will also help them with its venture capital fund and even will help the successful winners with bank loans and getting all types of clearances. Sinha said that the MSME department through its synergy programme had been trying to create entrepreneurs for the past couple of years.

He said "The focus is on startups and we are looking for good business ideas. Even the winners of every episode will be awarded and there will be hand holding facility from the end of the government. There will be judges from business community and IIMC. The strategy is to help young entrepreneurs grow and groom them through experts." For the show the state government will make a massive campaign state wide, so that all young people with bubbling ideas can be roped in for the show.

MUMBAI: Zee Bangla is all set to launch a new fiction show titled Amar Durga starting 18 January.
The show will air from Monday to Saturday at 8.30 pm.
Amar Durga is a socio-political family drama, which revolves around a simple village girl called Durga, who fights against all odds to become a symbol of power for the society.
The show builds on the story of a woman, a lover, a fighter and a winner. Durga represents today’s woman of Bengal who can combat and protect like Goddess Durga.

Plot/Story Wiki

The story revolves around a five year old innocent ghost Bhutu essayed by six year old Arshiya Mukherjee. The interesting part of this tale is that Bhutu is unaware of the fact that she is a ghost. She actually considers herself to be a human being and wonders why she cannot communicate with others.

Bhutu, who died in her own house, believes that she was in deep sleep and her parents have gone somewhere without taking her with them. That is why she waits for her family with the hope that they will come back looking for her.

The house is considered ghostly by the locals. However, a broker gives it to various families on rent but none of them can stay here for a longer period. Whenever, a new family comes to stay she tries to connect with them.

As the tale progresses, Bhutu would realize that she is visible only to people who possess a good heart and who she likes to communicate with. Her search lands her and her benefactors in hilarious situations and creates pure joy and laughter.

Where her journey will take her is for the viewers to find out.

Early life and career

Banerjee was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She is the only child of her parents. Her original name is Jhumjhum Banerjee. Director Sukhen Das renamed her in her début film, Daan Protidan (1994).
Banerjee won the Miss Calcutta contest in 1994. She won many beauty contest before her acting career. She has appeared in 35 Bengali films with Prosenjit Chatterjee. She has also done several Odia films, mostly with Siddhanta Mahapatra. She was also in the Hindi film Sooryavansham with Amitabh Bachchan. Some of her South Indian co-actors are Upendra and Chiranjivee.
Apart from acting, Banerjee has also hosted the popular Bengali non-fiction TV show, Didi No. 1, which is aired on Zee Bangla on weekdays. On 5 April 2013 a fire broke out in the studio of Didi No. 1 at Tollygunge, and she fainted following a panic attack and was rushed to a city hospital (Aurobindo Seva Sadan) immediately.^[2]

Personal life

Banerjee was married to Odia actor Siddhanta Mahapatra. They divorced in 2004 at a family court in Cuttack and she subsequently left the Odia Film Industry.^[1] She is currently married to Probal Basu and has a son, named Pronil Basu.^[3]
